2016 CHANGED – A MISSED OPPORTUNITY

Ebrima Nyang (GDC Admin 1)

The Gambia under the leadership of President Barrow is facing arguably the worst times in recent history.  I keep asking myself why? how are the officials only focused on “mind your business attitude”? with no accountability – whoever is tasked with a responsibility- needs to be accountable and performance managed. Sadly – too many kings in our small kingdom – The Gambia. Is Barrow the man to take us to the next level ? I think not.

The hardship in this country is unbearable- people are seriously feeling the constant price hikes due to various reasons – will we ever get a good explainable reason from the Barrow administration? No it’s as always – romanticism of the lies while people die slowly in hunger and destitution. Where is the famous quote” government officials are servant of the people?” Government economists tell tales about  the country  moving forward but the reality is we are on a reverse gear!  As chief servant of the people, I call on you to get your hands dirty and safe people from sufferings and starvation. The country has been reduced to a beggar!

Mr President, to leave a positive legacy – your words must be your bond. We no longer have faith in your pronouncements- time to make a paradigm shift for a better person, leader and country we want.
The country is at  crossroad and every decision taken by this government affects the lives of the majority of the people – and for how much longer should we entertain an expensive bad decision from this government.
To some, they are already blinded and nothing can’t be seen from a progressive point of view; but it is not the  believes of The Gambians who have this country at heart but a profound fact that the 2016 Election was nothing but a turning point and pedal for a fast growing country. A great dream hijacked by a selfish few!

The security of this country is fragile and no one is assured of living to see tomorrow. The progress of a country is measured by its continuous growth. The Gambia and Gambians were safe, despite some will still argue that the absent of war does not mean peace but our protection to life and our properties were highly guaranteed.
There are reasons that should force every government to act through decisions spearheaded by the president unfortunately assurances are so slim from President Adama Barrow in doing so.
Part of the solution is well known, but is the President worried when he is heavily protected with his family from our daily nightmares. The people are afraid to go outside as everyone turn to be a hostage of fear.
The police mobility problem is a known fact and we cannot expect them to carry on their work on foot to arrest culprits.

The lives taken daily is a worrisome as if the country is in war with itself.
The country is at a point where we need a good decision maker but not one whose strive is to secure  another mandate. Our people are suffering and the decision to remove you is in our own hands and I believe we wouldn’t miss the opportunity on 4th December, 2021.

Gambia – take your destiny into your own hands!
