Vision:

To have a mutually coordinate and cooperate international non-aligned engagement with countries and international institutions to tackle global challenges, including poverty, peace and security and climate change as well as strengthen the regional integration and development goals of ECOWAS.

Mission:

Our mission is to strengthen diplomatic ties with all countries and international institutions, including ECOWAS, AU, UN, EU, IOC and China, which enable the Gambia to command respect in order to break barriers in the quest to achieve global and regional peace and security, reduce poverty and mitigate effects of climate change on development. Furthermore, we will also advance the interest of Gambians in all aspects around the world.

Policies:

Our policy is to take a neutral position with soft diplomacy to support and contribute issues associated with tackling global and regional challenges. We believe that a neutral soft diplomacy will put the Gambia in a position of strength to cooperate and coordinate activities that are mutually beneficial to all stakeholders. Therefore, we will continue with our current diplomacy as enshrined by the constitution. However, the foreign missions will be revamped to make it more effective and efficient to serve the interest of the Gambia and Gambians around the world, including well-coordinated website that clarify and promote foreign direct investment.

Programmes:

  • Streamline the size of our foreign missions to make them more efficient and effective. We will continue to work with partners where necessary to share embassies.
  • Gambians in the diaspora to be given greater participation in the economic and political aspects of the country. This involves diaspora voting, and policies to attract them to invest in the Gambia by working with the foreign missions and local stakeholders.
  • Greater cooperation with ECOWAS to accelerate the integration process as envisaged in the revised 1993 Treaty.
  • Promote the Senegambia concept as a model of peace and integration in the world by selling the unique traditions that exist
  • Foreign missions to continuously identify opportunities and means to attract more tourism in the Gambia
  • Work with the government bodies to identify and promote inward investment opportunities to enhance economic and social development
  • Work with all our partners, including the OIC, AU, UN, EU and China to tackle global challenges

Work with all stakeholders to make the Gambia a hub for reexport trade as well as ramp up domestic production that makes our products more competitive.
