ARTICLE 14: TENURE OF OFFICE

The tenure of office of Party officials shall be governed by the following rules:

i. All officers of the Party Organs, National, Regional and Constituency Executive Committees shall be elected for a period of four (4) years. Elections of party executives shall be held during National, Regional and Constituency Congresses/Meetings.

ii. Except as otherwise provided in this Constitution, all officers of the Party, elected or appointed, shall be eligible for re-election or re-appointment for another period of four (4) years, provided that an Officer elected or appointed to fill a vacancy arising from death, resignation or otherwise shall notwithstanding be eligible for election to the same Office for two terms.

iii. No member shall serve in the same office for more than eight (8) years continuously, except as a member of the National Executive Board or a person who first came to the office by filling a vacancy. The Party Leader reserves the power to waive Article 14 (iii).

14.1 Criteria for Termination of the Appointments of Executive Members

Subject to the ratification by the National Executive Board/Committee, an Officer shall be relieved of his post at any time if a vote of no confidence is passed on him by two-thirds of members of the relevant Party organ. Where a vote of no confidence has been passed on an Officer, the relevant Party organ shall appoint another person to act in his place pending ratification by the National Executive Board/Committee. The following are the criteria for the termination of the appointments of executive members:

i. Manifestation of lack of integrity and honesty demonstrated by two or more interactions with the disciplinary committee.

ii. When a member no longer subscribe to the vision, mission and values of the Party.

iii. Has conflict of interest attested to by the National Executive Committee.

iv. Resigned from the Party and or from the executive.

v. If found to be negligent/failing in his or her tasks as attested to by the disciplinary committee.

vi. Loss of mental capacity as attested to by a psychiatric.

vii. When the executive is dissolved for any constitutionally sanctioned reason, all members are automatically terminated and a normalisation committee shall be setup by the National Executive Board/Committee.
